NGO Scorecard
The NGO Scorecard is an assessment mechanism aimed at creating a system for benchmarking and accountability for the NGO sector in South Africa.
The NGO Scorecard has been developed by a group of local non-governmental organisations who have experience and expertise in organisational development. It is an initiative that is entirely driven by NGOs to address the need for sectoral accountability, ultimately improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the sector.
Being assessed on the NGO Scorecard provides the following benefits:
- Identification of organisational gaps and successes.
- Provide a credibility rating
- Can be attached to donor proposals to demonstrate transparency and accountability
- Useful tool to assist strategic planning
- Facilitates organisational and personal learning
- Monitors progress and sustainability over time
