Practice Finance for Doctors


practice_finance_for_doctorsStarting any business is tricky, more so when you are doing it all alone and want to concentrate on your professional commitment and not on the administrative aspect of the business.

Understanding the business processes of establishing a new practice and the administrative requirements that go along with such an undertaking are critical to your success.

The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) is offering a two-day course to all doctors who intend starting their own practice in the next six months or who started their practice less than six months prior to our training.

The course will enable participants to:

  • Apply personal finance and planning.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business processes and finances.
  • Explain financial terms and definitions.
  • Interpret financial statements.
  • Identify and demonstrate an understanding of sources and applications of capital in business.
  • Describe the effect of working capital management.
  • Identify the Golden Rules for investments through ratio analysis.
  • Explain the importance of cash-flow and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage it.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of budgeting principles and processes and,Give practical tips on how to protect practice finance.

The cost of this programme has been drastically reduced due to a generous sponsorship received from Nedbank.  The FPD will therefore be presenting three courses throughout the country at a cost of only R750 (incl VAT) per course.

  • 11 -12 February, Durban.
  • 3 – 4 March, Polokwane.
  • 17 – 18 March, Gauteng.

Please note that the course is accredited according to the HPCSA CPD Guidelines (November 2006) for 24 CEU points on level 2 (12 Workshop, 12 Assessment).
