Interests: Muscular Dystrophy / Management / Clinical Management
Muscular Dystrophy is a group of genetic diseases characterised by progressive muscular weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement. There is no specific treatment for any form of MD. Professional nurses need to have an understanding of the disease and how it can be prevented, diagnosed and appropriately managed, as well as how the family can be supported and assisted to care for their affected member.
