3 months to complete the POE & practical assessments

Accreditation

Accredited according to the HPCSA CPD Guidelines for Health Professionals - for a total of 23 clinical points on Level 2.

Certification

To qualify for the certificate of competence, participants should fully attend the workshop, complete the theoretical and practical assessment and successfully complete a Portfolio of Evidence.

The course consists of 12 Modules which includes all modern contraceptive methods available in South Africa including:

 

  • Contraception Policy, Guidelines & Protocols
  • Professional & Ethical conduct
  • Patient rights, values & culture
  • Principles of counselling
  • Drug interaction
  • Signs & symptoms of STI’s
  • Effective monitoring & evaluation
  • Family planning methods
  • Implanon Insertion
  • Pap Smears
  • IUCD Insertion

A 5-day Interactive workshop with lectures and practical demonstrations. Aligned to Unit Standards: 259363, 260406, 119559

Aligned to the National contraception & fertility planning policy & service delivery guidelines & The National contraception, fertility planning policy.

Who Should Enrol

Registered Nurses who are required to offer oral and injectable contraceptives to their clients.
