Introduction

Many motor vehicle accidents are caused by drivers' poor vision. Drivers and operators could have visual de?ciencies such as near-sightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Cataracts could also a?ect the driver’s vision. Compliance with the visual requirements to obtain a drivers’ licence or do speci?c quality inspection work is important.

The FPD Vision Screening course prepare the healthcare professional for the challenges of testing and screening. The course complies with the Unit Standard 116505 written for the performance of a Vision screening test in the occupational setting.

Course Design

1-day Interactive workshop with lectures and practical exercises.

  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology of the Eye
  • Preparation of Client, Environment & Equipment
  • History Taking
  • Examining the Ocular System
  • Conducting a Snellen and Automated Vision Screen
  • Legal compliance of vision requirements per type of Risk Groups in Industry
  • Record Keeping and Validity issues

Accreditation

Accredited according to the HPCSA CPD Guidelines for Health Professionals - for a total of 7 clinical points on Level 2.

Admission Requirements

A matric/grade 12 certi?cate or equivalent quali?cation.

Booking is essential.

Certification

To qualify for the certi?cate of attendance, participants should fully attend the workshop.
