Introduction

Climate change is no longer a distant threat—it is a present and growing challenge, especially for public health in vulnerable regions like Africa. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and shifting disease patterns are placing unprecedented strain on health systems and communities already grappling with limited resources and high disease burdens.

This short 8-hour course on Climate Change and Health is designed for healthcare professionals and others working in the health sector who want to understand and respond to the complex relationship between climate change and health. Through four interactive modules, participants will explore the science behind climate change, its direct and indirect health impacts, and how it effects access to healthcare. The course is delivered through engaging online lessons, videos, polls, and discussion boards, fostering both individual learning and peer interaction. Assessment is conducted via short quizzes with automatic feedback, and a cumulative score of 70% is required to earn a certificate of completion and CPD points.

Who Should Enroll

Healthcare professionals, researchers and people working in the health and non-health fields with an interest in the intersection between climate change and health.
